Globe Trotter Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Posted February 4, 2011 Hi Chris Thank you very much for the the detailed reply......Extremely helpful :) !I followed most of what you had written with the exception of one or two things but the main thing is I managed to get the goosed Alternator off the bracket :D . I'm now shopping around for a new (re-conditioned) one now.I'm even toying around with the idea of re-conditioning it myself  After looking at the alternator it really does'nt look all that complicated at all, pretty sure I could replace damaged & faulty parts unless there are special tools required? does anyone know what it takes to recon these things tools, time, parts etc? is it worth doing ? Best RegardsAmmer Quote
Jayton Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 What exactly is the problem? could be as simple as the brushes need replacing (if this particular Ford alternator has one?) or bearings inside... Give us some more info, I'd take a shot at it myself if it were the brushes. Quote
pi200 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Hello Guys, Can you help me more in detail with the points 1, 4, and 5 as I have to replace my alternator also. I'm struggling to remove the the drive belt as the space is very limited ( point 1 ), and than how to create space to remove the bolts ( points 4 and 5 ) Thanks in advance, Quote
